Seems straight forward enoungh but I can't seem to get it to work. I have an empty field for a selection of record I cannot replace the data in that field since I guess there is none there. Is there a way to do this = sign does not work. Since this field is empty through out the data base is there a way to put a arbitrary value in it that I can than find and replace latter that is put value x in that field in every record.

Go to a layout that contains the field that you wish to replace and put your cursor in it.

Select record from the top menus and you will find a replace option that will enable you to do what you want
