Start Server manually/automatically

Featured Replies

Is there any chance to set the server to start automatically without reinstalling FMS7???

Now it is set to start manually and I don't want to reinstall FMS7 and the updates respectively...

Open up the server admin tool (You must be on the server machine, not remoe)

Under the Server menu-> Local Filemaker Server Administration...

Well, I did this before posting my question but couldn't find a way there. Within the 3 different options "Start all FileMaker Server processes" is checked anyway, but this obviously doesn't affect FMS to start when the dedicated server machine starts...

There is some debate about whether starting the FMS service automatically is a good thing. The argument goes like this: if the machine is shutdown unexpectedly (like a power interruption) then it's possible that the files could be corrupted; at the very least they will need checking. So it's not a good idea toautomaticlaly run FMS each time the machine starts up.

This shouldn't be necessary. It isn't necessary with FMP updaters. The lastest update is all that is required because the last updater contains the prior fixes as well.

However, FMS7 may be different so you might want to check it out. smile.gif
