is there a more straight forward way to delete portal records than what i have going on now? in order to delete the portal record (and not just delete the text that's in the field) i have to click in a very specific place so that the field is highlighted in gray. i'm sure there must be a better way?

You could put a button on the portal row that deletes the portal row.

Or, If you're willing to give up data entry in the portal, then you can just change the field behavior properties to not allow field entry in browse mode, then clicking on the field will highlight the poral row. You could even make an invisible button that covers the entire portal row, and set up that button to delete the row (if that's all the portal is meant to do)
