Need a little help

Ok, can someone help me on this?

To make things simpler: i have two tables "People" and "List". I'm trying to have a list of all the people living in the same city. I made a layout with the name of the city and a portal of every person who has this city in their record (The link between the tables is the name of the city, with a unique field in the "List" because I only want one list per city).

So far so good, in the "List" layout everything is fine exept one detail: I have to enter the name of the city myself. I'd like to know if there is a way (i'm sure there is) for the town to tranfer automatically. Example: when I enter a town in a "People" records it transfers automatically (if it's not already there) in the "List" layout, and the name of the person is added in the portal. I tried the obvious "Allow creation of records" in the relationship but it doesn't work.

So, if someone could help I'd be most thankfull

It is not clear if you want to create records in list, one per city, or not. On the basis of what you have said you only need one record. Set up the city field from List (on the layout) as a pop-up list with a value list consisting of the values of the city field in your People table. When you choose a city the portal will populate with the people who live in the city. However, you may need the lists for another purpose, other than to see them on screen or print them out, if that is the case more details please.

Ok,

Yes, I want to create records in the List layout; one for each city (Name of the City + portal of People's name).

Right now, it works like this: when I enter the name of the city, the portal shows every records from the "people" layout. The thing is that I have to manually enter the name of the city (go to List layout, create a record, enter the name of the city; then the portal is populated).

What I want is to make the "create-record-enter-the-name-of-the-city" step automatic.

Can you help me with this?

Thanks
