Name of user editing a record???

Featured Replies

When using the Open Record script step, if the record is being edited by another user (returns error code 301), is there any way to capture the name of the user who is editing the record?

Thanks!

I'm running on Windows with the DB being hosted by FM Server and it does show the account name of the person who who has locked the record. Maybe its different with Macs.

When you say "it does show the account name", where are you seeing this? Maybe I'm simply looking in the wrong place???

Now that I've re-read your post after 24 hours have passed by I'm seeing your question in a different light.

What I originally meant was that if I tried to manually change a record that somebody else was activily working on, I would get a popup window that would show me the account name of the person who had locked the record. You probably already know this.

Now what I believe that you were really asking is; can you capture the account name of the person modifying a record via a script and put the results into a field for instance? If this is what you asked then I think the answer is no but I don't know for sure. I have not had a need for this kind of thing myself so I haven't looked for it specifically but I can't recall stumbling across anything either.

Exactly. I want to capture the name of the user editing the record for use in a script. Any thoughts??? Anyone???
