One Portal Different Results

I have an employee database. Each employee is either "active" or "inactive" which is defined by a field called "status". In my layout I have a column down the left side the I'm calling employee list. In that column is a portal that lists all the employee names.

Is there a way to fine tune the portal so that it can display all employee, active only, or inactive only? I am envisioning 3 tabs adjacent the column like All, Active, and Inactive. When clicked the portal is limited to display only that chose.

I could make three layout but it would be better for my design if it happens on the same layout. I hope that make since. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Create a global text field and a calculation text field of status & "
