OK,

I'm trying to automate off site backups. I've got everything set up except scheduling the task. I know I can use windows task scheduler to run my batch file, but that requires going through my IT department to let me have access to the scheduled tasks on the server.

I found the Scheduled tasks portion of FMServer Admin Console, and there's a run script command. Only problem is that I can't find any documentation. The manual (Chapter 5) says to reference the FMServer Help File, well there's nothing in it that I can find.

Does this feature actually do anything? Can I simply call a batch file somehow? Anybody?

Not much to say about it really: it will let you trigger an OS script (vbs, bat, cmd) just like the Windows task scheduler does more or less.

There is a scripts folder in the FMS data folder where the script needs to be before you can select it in the console.

Note: there is a bug in FMS 7v1 and v2 that would prevent those scripts from running, but it is fixed in v3. Haven't tried it though since I use the windows scheduler mostly
