Jalz Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 Hi Guys, Have any of you guys managed to slide up a box in the body part of a report. I've applied the the sliding and printing option to a box I've drawn, which contains a field inside it. When I preview the document, the sliding doesnt work?? I surprised you can apply this option to the object if it wont work....Im sure im doing something wrong. Jalz
BrentHedden Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I've never had to do this before, but would grouping it with another element on the layout help any?
Vaughan Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 I don't think boxes slide. Instead, put borders on the field.
Jalz Posted June 22, 2005 Author Posted June 22, 2005 Hi Guys, Thanks for the replys. BrentHedden, unfortunately grouping objects and fields just dont seem to work . I never thought of that, so thanks for the idea. Vaughan, putting a border around a field works. However, I want about a 1cm above and 1cm to the left and right of the fiel of the field contents. I cant seem to do this.... Any other ideas, guys?
LaRetta Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Hi Jalz, You can resize your field larger (drag a corner or use View > Object Size in px.) and then control where the data appears within the field. Use Format > Align Text and, at the bottom, you can select top, center or bottom. You can control the text placement within the field by using Format > Line Spacing > Custom and Indent, ie, if you wish left align but want it 15 px from left edge, type 15.00 in the left indent box. Indent the right as well. You can also increase the line spacing (above and below). Sliding will not violate these specified field boundaries and you can provide room around each field. LaRetta
Jalz Posted June 23, 2005 Author Posted June 23, 2005 Thanks LaRetta, Your suggestion works......I can produce exactly what the client wants with this technique. Jalz
