Hi!

Can I use a dns/host name when adding a file reference, i.e: fmnet:/myserver.mydomain.com/myfilename.fp7? Or do I have to use a ip address?

No you can use DNS. Makes it easier if you ever give the server a new IP address. On the other hand if DNS fails the connection will fail.
