FM Pro 6 Mac - Page Setup settings not remembered

Hello - the following affects Mac's running OS 10.3.x and 10.4.x and FileMaker Pro 6.0v4

I work at NIEHS where we have FM Pro for Mac and PC licensed. One db I distribute widely is to track credit card purchases. Each credit card holder gets a blank copy to open locally which in turn accesses a related db with shared Company names/addresses/phone numbers. The local db is called "IMPAC.fp5" and the server db is "Company.db".

The users like to print credit card orders by a range of dates. In the print dialogue they change the FM specific settings to "Records Bring Browsed" and the group prints fine. I've even saved this to a FM Records print dialogue preset - so it can be picked from the pull-down menu. all works fine until they QUIT and then relaunch the db. Then the setting has reverted back to "Current Record".

The kicker: If I delete the relationships and do not have the remote "Company.db" file open then the setting is remembered. Of course then they have no access to the Company names/etc.

One other note is this does not seem to be a problem for the Windoze users of the IMPAC.fp5 credit card log file.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Are you using a Script, or accessing the Print through the Menu?

Manually, FileMaker remembers the last print perform. Special printing should be save in a Script. So first setup and print manually, and then immediately create a Script using the Script Step Print. If you also do a find and a Sort and want these to be performed the same each time, then include there script steps also.

If you are doing this with a Script already, you need to update the Page Setup for the Script. Once again, you will want to first perform the script manually and then immediately edit the Script. Just open of ScriptMaker, select the script to be edited, click Edit, and then Click OK. This will produce a Sub Box with the options to Replace or Keep several steps including Page Setup. If you have changed any others too, you want to Replace them. Once you have selected Replace for the effected steps, click Okay twice, and your script will be updated.

(Thanks for moving my post to the correct section.)

The change is manual - each user has their own desires about printing only one record at a time or records browsed so I have chosen not to script it.

Agreed: FM is SUPPOSE to remember the last print settings but in the case of this database when linked to a remote company db it does not. Every other db I use that is not connecting to a remote host and db the specific settings for the Filemaker Pro specific settings "stick" (are remebered).

The other non-FM print settings (Layout and such) ARE remembered. Something I forgot to note in the original posting. So if I set Layout to 4 records per page, quit and reopen the DB that is remembered. It is only the FM specific settings that are not saved.

One more bt of additional info: the users have limited access to the IMPACT.fp5 - no Layout privs for example. However if I open it with my owner password the settings are still not remembered so I don't think it has to do with password.
