Aussie John Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I have someone who has referenced a lot of photos. They now want the database to move to a laptop. Is there any way to embed these referenced photos. (I know there are a couple of recent similar threads but i think this is different) Thanks
Aussie John Posted June 24, 2005 Author Posted June 24, 2005 OK I think I have a work around. Since putting the database onto a laptop is to show the client the progress, I have suggested that the Laptop hard drive be renamed to match that of the server ( with a corresponding file structure). From my local tests I think that will work. My original question still stands though (for future reference)
Wasatch Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 You may be OK as long as the photo library is in a clean location relative to the application files. I do this a lot by setting up an "umbrella" folder containing separate sub-folders for application files and photographs. When the whole thing is moved the relative paths stay unchanged. It works for Mac-to-Mac, but you have to reestablish file paths if you switch from Mac to Windows. Don't embed directly because the images become decompressed, and you end up with monstrously large slow files.
