Printing line items w/ unpredictable no. of lines

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have created an invoicing solution in FM7 for our own use. I have 2 tables called 'invoice' and 'line items'.

Some of our line item's description contains multiple lines (.e.g. specs of the item)but some only contains single line. My question is... How can I print the entire contents of multiple lines line item(s) if they exceeded to the defined size of description field in the body?

See example below assuming my description field in the body is only defined to handle 2 lines: (On this example LN 2 will only display up to the word 'Specs:')

LN...Qty...Description

1........1....Item 1

2........5....Item2

.................Specs:

.................xxxxxxxxxxxx

.................xxxxxxxxxxxx

.................xxxxxxxxxxxx

.................xxxxxxxxxxxx

.................xxxxxxxxxxxx

3........6.......Item 3

Hope I explained it clearly. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Garry

Look into FileMaker Pro's Sliding/Printing feature. It does what you need.

Just remember that things shrink-fit down to size, they don't expand-up.
