FM7 Server Quitting

Featured Replies

Since we installed FM7 Server Advanced, the users screens go blank, lose connection to server, and won't re-establish until the served is re-booted. The Windows server 2003 is capturing a faulting module in FM "FMSPROP.DLL". Have you seen this before and what was the fix?

Never seen this one. Make sure you're running FMS 7.0v3. Try to see from the application event log if there is a pattern to the madness: is the same user coming online? Does it happen around backup time?

Anything else running on that machine? From the user's perspective does it happen with the same script in a file, or with accessing a certain layout ...

No rhyme or reason. Running v7.3. FM is working on this one to.

Oh, but there is always a reason :)

FMP and FMS are remarkably stable apps. Troubleshooting these seemingly random problems can be hard: you have to track it down until you can make it happen at will. Can be a long process but there is always something. Like a corrupt graphic on a layout, a bad NIC in one of the machines, a faulty printer driver, ...

Use the Windows Performance monitor to log as much data as you can to look for clues. Scrutinze the System and Application Event logs.

Good hunting.
