Bikeman17 Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Hi there, A guy wants to operate a solution over a Windows network. He got 2 copies of FileMaker and the solution. Please read the comments he submitted: Does the app require a network in a domain environment? Or can it run simply inside a workgroup? XP Home edition is installed on two machines. Do I need to run the program from within a shared directory? How do both computers see the data otherwise? Any help is welcome
RalphL Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 FMP has its own sharing, do not use OS sharing. Open FMP on one machine and use the host button to share. I would put the fmp files in an unshared folder.
stanley Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 Bikeman: The FMP documentation is quite clear on this - the chapter on sharing databases is only four or five pages long, and it is very simple to implement. -Stanley
