FMDuck Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Has anyone ever done any integration with AutoCAD? I'm looking into what would be required to generate AutoCAD files from FM or to create a parsable file from AutoCAD that can be tabulated in FM. I know almost nothing about AutoCAD but am aware that there is a command window where you can type commands and (I think) add objects via a text string. If so, I may be able to cut-and-paste text between a FM calculation and this AutoCAD window. Alternately, if AutCAD creates challenges, a different CAD program may be an option. Thanks for any guidance.
VICH Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 i would call myself nothing short of an expert of ACAD but i hope you plan on interacation with a user if you do this because you can type call the commands but you have to direct them with your mouse
FMDuck Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 What do you mean? Can I create a collection of records in FM that include xyz coordinates, layer, etc. then paste that into the command window? Likewise can I cut from the command window in AutoCAD and paste then parse in FM?
VICH Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 ACAD is a very point and click program it could probably be done but would be very difficult it would almost seem easier to me to have your users just learn ACAD
