Displaying valuelist as normal text?

I have gotten the idea behind (conditional) valuelists and they work fine. Now I want to display the result, not in a pulldown-menu or checkbox, just as regular text.

I must be missing something obvious..?

You just need to specify the specific field on a layout as a standard field (format > field format).

Then, whatever info you chose from the value list will be displayed as a return seperated list.
