I swear I thought I used to be able to do this...

I thought I used to be able to do this but now it just won't work...

Create a list layout of records, put a Global field in the Header section and be able to modify the field while it is in the header.

All fields in the header of a list layout act as if I've prohibited data entry in the field although "Allow Data Entry" is clearly checked.

Have I just never tried this before and I'm having some false memory syndrome of doing this along time ago or has something changed with 5.0?

While in View as List, global fields placed on a header part are not editable. And it has been this way since at least FileMaker Pro 4.1.

Text fields in the header are only editable in View As Form as well -- in List view, everything in the header appears to be locked.

The memory -- it's the second thing to go. wink.gif

hmmmm...

Thanks for setting me straight.

I needed to get oriented back to reality. Everyday, I get reminded that I'm getting older... I guess the next step is to sprout hair out of my ears and to start wearing black socks with Bermuda shorts.
