July 26, 200520 yr Newbies Hi, I'm having a problem with the database I'm fixing up here at work. When the people entering data leave spaces or returns at the end of fields it creates problems when exporting the database to Excel or publishing it on our website. Is there a way to remove these spaces and returns automatically? I was thinking (or hoping, rather) that perhaps there might be an ASCII character which represents the end of a field in FM so I could do a find/replace and simply get rid of all ending spaces and returns in two find/replace commands. If it's relevant, I'm using FileMaker Pro 7 and I'm on a PowerMac G5. I hope you guys can help me -- it'll save me a lot of time and trouble! Thanks in advance. Dan EDIT: I'm on Mac OS X Panther, not Tiger. I clicked the wrong one. Edited July 26, 200520 yr by Guest clarification
July 26, 200520 yr You could use the Trim function to remove the leading and trailing spaces. In order to remove the returns after the last sentence requires something like you will find in this Recent Thread: Click Here to go HTH Lee
