Hi,

I've read some aerlier posts on this subject but they didn't really shine a light on the problem. What i wan't to do is to change the name on an exported FM7 file to a value specified in the exporting FM7 file. Otherwise it will be overwritten in the next export.

What I have understood you can either do this via a plug-in or somebody mentioned a shell command.

1. What is a shell command?

2. Is there a possability to execute such a command on both Mac Osx and PC Win XP?

I think it's rather wiered that FM doesn't support "dynamic" naming of fields like ScriptParameter or so.

not sure if this will help but look up the set variable command in filemaker help and you should be able to pass a variable filename to the export command.
