account/privileges on file copies

Featured Replies

I have a 5 file application. All files have been set up with exactly the same account names/privileges. One account name requires no password (general users) and has a defined privilege set.

General users can create a copy of the data base and restore from the copy via scripts. Whenever a restore is done, one of the copy files (the last in the chain) insists on requiring a password before allowing the restore to complete. The only thing that seems to work is one of the full-access accounts with password. Don't want to give that out! Shouldn't have to.

The application was developed on a MAC and does not have the problem on the MAC. It's when I try to run it on Windows that the problem occurs. It happens both in 'regular' and runtime modes.

Any thoughts? I've ordered the user accounts identically on all 5 files with the general user account first.

TIA

I answered my own question. This application being my only excursion in FM7 so far, I'd forgotten that 6 months ago when I did the first 4 files I found in the 'file options' that I could specify the account to use when opening the file. The first 4 were set correctly; the problem child wasn't. Now that it is, everything is working everywhere. Using the MAC keychain option had avoided the problem on the MAC.

Maybe this will help somebody else.
