While reinstalling FM Server 7 it doesn't do a complete reinstall, it doesn't ask for install number etc. and the server doesn't show up in the services.

Never had the issue...

do a full uninstall from the Add/Remove control panel, reboot, reinstall and reboot.

If that doesn't do the trick, use the add/remove control panel again, reboot and use the registy editor to remove all references to filemaker (presuming you have no other filemaker products on the machine than FMS). Reboot and reinstall.

If you're not familiar with the registry you may not want to fiddle with it.

Thanks for the help...I think that the registry is the trick...I will try and contact filemaker tomorrow and see if they can guide me thru the registry.

found the problem, something to do with Terminal Server I believe. Anyway I was able to load the program by going to Add/Delete programs in control panel and click on add new programs, the install went fine. Filemaker was no help at all...
