Bill Jaynes Posted December 31, 2000 Posted December 31, 2000 Hello, I'd really like to write a script that begins with, say, Go to related records and have control over which layout of the related file I'm taken to. I'm looking the scripts over pretty carefully and don't see how. Is there a way? Thanks all, Bill
Chuck Posted December 31, 2000 Posted December 31, 2000 In the related file you have a script: Go to Layout [ My_Layout ] In the current file you have a script: Go to Related Records [ Related_File ] Perform Script [ External: Related_File (Go to My Layout) ] Chuck
Bill Jaynes Posted January 1, 2001 Author Posted January 1, 2001 Hello, I see what you mean. This works very nicely; however, only (apparently) left to right. I cannot get this to work from related file and put the focus back on the master file. Am I missing something here or is this a structural limitation. Thanks Bill
Chuck Posted January 3, 2001 Posted January 3, 2001 You need a relationship in the related file back to the master file. It's often referred to as a reverse relationship. You go to the related file and create a new relationship using the same key fields as the original relatioship uses, but in the reverse order. Then you'll be able to use the same Go to Related Records/Perform Script combination technique to move back and forth. Chuck
