2 questions:

1. how do I create a check box in File Maker Pro 6.0 I need a simple X in a box for if they want a service or leave it blank if they do not need this service.

2. I have a Customer field that links to another data base (Customer Data base). When I populate the Customer field in the Job Data Base-- I need info from the Customer data base (ie. Account number, phone, email and address) to populate the approprate fields in the Job Data Base.

Sounds easy... I can't figure out how to acomplish this. Please help our database file has been deleated ... we lost all our archives so the sooner we are up and running the better. I have to re-enter all our files (and our IT dept. tried to recover no luck)

ThThe check box is simply a field that is formatted as a checkbox using a value list.

In layout mode, right click on the field choose "Field Format" and click the second button and drop down to check box.

The fields in the job Database should be set as lookups based on the relationship between the two files.

go to file, define fields. Highlight the field you want. click options, looked up value. in the top right box, choose the relationship between those 2 files and choose the field you wish the info from.

Hope this helps

Welcome to the Forums,

1. Make a value list, call it Boolean give it the value 1.

Make a number field Checkbox. On the layout format it as a checkbox using the value list. Size the field so the 1 does not show.

2. Make a relationship from Job to Customer using CustomerID.

Make each of the fields in Jobs that you want to copy from Customer a lookup based on this relationship.

I perfer to start in the Customer database when creating a new Job. It is easier to find the Customer and you don't have to worry about CustomerID.
