Reed Snider Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Can anyone tell me if I can place ascending or descending order parameters in a field for sorting without using the cmd-s key stroke for sorting? In other words the field account will always be sorted ascending. Thank you.
Lee Smith Posted August 11, 2005 Posted August 11, 2005 Please update your profile to reflect your OS, Platform and version of FileMaker. If you are viewing your records in Table View, there is an option will do this in Layout Setup. HTH Lee
Reed Snider Posted August 12, 2005 Author Posted August 12, 2005 Lee, I must be missing something... Here's what I'm trying to do.... Type in the "rep" field the rep's name for finding.... when this is done I need the "account" field to be alphabetical order.... with all accounts listed with the rep find. Lee, again thanks for your help. Reed
Reed Snider Posted August 13, 2005 Author Posted August 13, 2005 I've tried to understand what a "portal" is... and cannot. All I can do is possibly compare to the previous database systems I've used... Alpha Five and Acess. Is a portal a range or index? If this is the case, then "no" I do not have a portal attached to the field "accounts". Thanks.
Lee Smith Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I don't know zip about Alpha Five and Access, so I don't know if they have a similar feature. However, a Portal is a window to see data that is related to your Current File and Record. Have you read the FileMaker Manual yet? Check out the section about Portals. HTH Lee
Reed Snider Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 yes, but still not grasping "portals". Let me re-read and see if it sinks in this time. I'll be back in touch. Thanks.
