Difinitive answer sought - FMServer 5 on Win XPP?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know definitively, if FileMakerServer 5 will run on a Windows XP Pro box? If not, what level Windows OS will FMServer 5 run on? If it will - what potential problems, if any? TIA!

SD, thanks for the specs sheet.... so the requirements read: "•Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2000 Professional (10 or fewer users only)."

since Windows XP is like Windows 2000 version 2... I would assume FMS 5 "should" work on it - but does it? Is anyone running it successfully, FM Server 5, on Windows XP?

I have FM Server 5 running on Win2000 Advanced server and on an other server wich is running Win2003 Server

I guess when your OS is a server edition it should work for sure, and probably also when your WinXP machine is set-up as a server in the network (but I'm not quite sure) I Would say, test it on a small network where one of the clients is a host. If you don't have a network or something like that to test on, try a standalone WinXP machine running virtual Clients connected to it with VMWare...

I am running FileMaker Server 5.5 on a Windows XP Pro machine. Installed it yesterday. Seems to work fine so far.
