Set Tab Order in V7

Featured Replies

Something changed in the 'Set Tab Order' layout feature with FM7. When I went to assign a new tab order on a layout, I used to be able to click anywhere on the area of the field, using FM6. Now with 7, I've got to click on the arrow to assign a number to it.

Does anyone know if this was changed on purpose, or is there some super-secret setting that I need to apply in order to be able to click on the field, like I'm used to and prefer?

Thanks!

At least the versions are the same for both platform on this. I have to admit though, I didn't know about this ability before either.

It's one of those features that's probably not used extensively by many people. But darn it - I use it all of the time. It can become a real pain if you've got several fields on the layout, or even worse, several fields on top of each other.

At least FileMaker, Inc. is aware of the problem. There's a short listing about it in their knowledge base

http://filemaker.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/filemaker.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=365&p_created=1115172431&p_sid=CU8w8rOh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NDkmcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PXNldCB0YWIgb3JkZXI*&p_li=&p_topview=1

It appears that it's happening in V8 as well. WHY didn't they fix it, if they ackowledged it's happening? :blah:

Well, at least you can set a tab order on fields AND buttons now - I don't recall FM touting that feature very much.
