I have a plug-in that works in FileMaker 5 but not in FM7. Any help on how I can make it work?

**The developer no longer support plug-ins. The source code is available**

Contact the plugin developer.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, they no longer support plug-ins. I do have the source code but don't know why it works in FM5 and not in FM7.

What does the plugin do? If we had more details, maybe there is another alternative.

What the plug-in does is to send DDE messages from Filemaker to ZP4, and ZP4 sends results back. The ZP4 is a proprietary database that contains addresses with route details. We are using ZP4 to get the correct zip plus 4 and the mail route/carrier, the mailing barcodes, etc. In short, we are trying to standardized our database addresses to be compliant with what the USPS calls CASS-certified. In addition, we'd eventually want to get the latitudes and longitudes of a particular address.

To cut a long story short: We need to type in street address and the state to verify an address, get the corresponding zipcode for the address plus the 4 digits, eg, type in the street 6211 Terry Road, Florida, and get 32216-5099. Then use the TIGER files to get the Lat/Long.

Any thoughts?

Two thoughts: Ryan Costello writes plugins, so he may be interested in trying to fix ZP4. See Link

The other thought is that there are zipcode+4 databases that have built in lattitude and longitude values. You could probably wire one of these databases into your solution without a lot of difficulty. There is even a free one, but I don't remember whether it had lat/long and how current it was.
