Newbies android Posted September 12, 2005 Newbies Posted September 12, 2005 Hi - Ok - not sure where this goes, but I saw a bunch of calendar and date related posts upon search in this forum.. so here goes: I have the demo of 8; previously, my only experience was with v4, which I used to build a rudimentary time tracking/project tracking/project info/billing system. (1998... and they still use it!) Anyway, I'm off on my own, and want to build a project management system - a simple one, a little at a time. Ideally, however, I NEED calendars - now, I've seen the popup calendar, but without knowing exactly how it works (and knowing it's not really too adjustable) I thought I'd ask: 1) Can I (elegantly) build a window which holds (basically) a standard calendar, and put dates/links/whatever into its dates? 2) Can I (elegantly) build a timeline-style calendar? 3) Can either of the above be zoomable? (Not click-into-a-date, though it needs that, too, but to increase the visual scale?) By "elegantly" above, I mean without having to rely on third-party products or hacks, and with an economy of scripting. That's it for now. Thanks for any help! Andrew
LaRetta Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Hi Andrew, You might want to take a look at the workings of CC Calendar . It is free and unlocked and you can glean many ideas from it. They also have a Time Tracker and Gantt Charts for project management on their site; all open to explore. LaRetta
Newbies android Posted September 12, 2005 Author Newbies Posted September 12, 2005 (edited) Thanks! Wow... yowch. I dug in and looked at some code and MAN I have some learning to do. I guess it's kind of amazing to me that after all these years, FM doens't have a more user-friendly structure for handling calendar functions. (Or does it?) Well, the CC stuff looks amazing (and actually -looks- great) so I'm off to nose around. cheers, Andrew Edited September 12, 2005 by Guest
