September 12, 200520 yr Hello, I'm not sure if any of you will be able to help me with this.. I'm not sure if it is FM7 or if it is my mail program that is the issue. In order to reply to inquiries faster and more efficiently I set up a "Send Mail" script which automatically places the email address and subject into the mail fields. This saves me time from copy and pasting over. But, when it creates a new mail message it doesn't create it with my set stationary (I'm using Microsoft Outlook). When I create a new message directly from Outlook my stationary works, just not when I do it through FM7. Any ideas on how I can get the stationary to appear when emailing through FM7? Thank you.
September 12, 200520 yr Author Additionally, I noticed that the body field for the Send Mail script in FM7 allows you to place a field in it. Would it be possible to re-create my stationary in a field in FM7? My stationary is currently an HTML file. If so, what kind of field? Thanks again.
September 12, 200520 yr You can't send HTML mail with the Send Mail script step. You need to use a plugin for this. (SMTPit or mail.it)
September 13, 200520 yr SMTPit is at http://www.cnsplugins.com/ SMTPit v3 works with fmp6, and the new smtpit pro is fmp 7 native. mail.it is at http://www.dacons.net/. I haven't used this one except for playing around with the demo.
September 13, 200520 yr Author I have found the plugin and it looks fantastic. My only question is, I am upgrading the FM 8 and I just want to make sure that it doesn't contain this plugin before I purchase the plugin. From the information I have read it seems that it does not, merely has most of the same email capabilities as 7 other than the merge function. Does anyone know if 8 would support HTML stationaries, or is it still a plugin thing? Thanks.
September 14, 200520 yr FM8 will not be able to send HTML mail without a plugin. It can handle mass mailings more easily than prior versions, but messages still have to be plain text and require the use of a mail client program. The plugins interact directly with the server.
