kiwiora Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Hi guys, I have a couple of databases that I have added to the server. It's all good, I can open them on the server no problem. However, when I go to a standard computer and use the "Open Remote File" it doesn't appear on that list. I close it on the server and open up the file - I note that the "Turn on Network Sharing to share your open files using TCP/IP" is set to On. Network access to file is set to all users. Strangely, as soon as I close and open it again, network access to file reverts to no users.. what the.. thanks in advance.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Check in the SAT Tool to be sure that your Server settings for the allowable number of files to be hosted has not been exceeded, Steven
kiwiora Posted October 3, 2005 Author Posted October 3, 2005 Thanks but it's not that. This is only number 5 that i've converted. Max is set to something stupid like 100 Any other takers?
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 Did you accidentially check the option not to display the file name in the list of files? Same UI as the sharing. Steven
kiwiora Posted October 4, 2005 Author Posted October 4, 2005 Nope it's not ticked... grrr Will ring up FM ... this is bizarre...
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 Take a look in the SAT tool and be sure that the files are actually open. Also, when was the last time you restarted the Server? Steven
kiwiora Posted October 5, 2005 Author Posted October 5, 2005 yup all files are actually open. FM wasn't much help. Sent them the file - works fine for them. Created a blank one here and it opens fine. Created a blank one - imported new table - fine - but fields are missing when i exported to xls and as csv(mer)!! Saved it as a copy - no go. Saved it as a clone - no go. Imported the table into a new db - no go Recovered - no go I am really loathe to recreate it. Tried restarting server day before yesterday. I added a new file today and it works fine. Under the sharing dialog "Filemaker Network Settings" I have Network Sharing "On" And Network access "All users" I note that network access keeps defaulting back to no users?? irrespective of how many times I set it to "all users".
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 Well this is possibly indicative a significant problem in the file. Does this same behavior occur with a new, freah file? Steven
kiwiora Posted October 12, 2005 Author Posted October 12, 2005 I gave up and re-created the blimmen thing from scratch and it all works so I have no idea. : I remembered that I had originally converted it from 6 so who knows what it was having a spack about. Filemaker never responded so.. thanks Filemaker NOT Thanks for all your Steven help whilst I was banging my head :)
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 OK, good. Glad it's working for you now. Steven
