Upgrade to FM7 issues

I am trying to assist someone who recently upgraded their database from FM4.3 to FM7v3 with server 7. Their server uses Windows 2003.

Since the conversion, they have numerous issues.

1) Reports that contain both a portal field and regular fields that were set to slide up and reduce space both preview and print incorrectly. Partway through each page, the fields overlap and are unreadable. They called FM support and the answer given was "portals never were made to be printable". Really???

2)Screens come up slow and pop-out lists appear much slower than in V4.3. There is sometimes a delay of up to 15 seconds waiting for a value list to appear.

3) Scripts that before functioned fine now do not work. This appears to be especially true if the scripts contained commands to set fields or switch screens, or involve global fields.

I tried upgrading to FM8's trial version, and this is even SLOWER. Now there is as much as a 60 second delay before some scripts begin after you click on them, and some screens come up field by field by field. The process of making a reservation, which used to take about 2 minutes, now takes in excess of 5.

What are the options to fix this, and why do scripts that worked fine in 4.3 fail in both 7 and 8??

You should down load, and read the white paper from FMI site about Migrating files. Read some of the other posts in the forum about this topic too.

I have moved your question to the Migration Topic Area too.l
