mlemmnapa Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 On OS X is a G4 500mhz a hard requirement for server 8 or just a suggestion? I have a 450mhz I want to put it on for a four user setup. Thank You Mark Lemm LemmTech Enterprises
Steven H. Blackwell Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 I think that 500 MHz clock speed is way too low. YMMV. Steven
Jeremy Wood Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Sure it will work. It will just be slow. You're talking about spending nearly $2000 on software + all your time... Don't cheap out and put it on some POS you have lying around. More than just the speed--consider the reliability of your system, etc. If a brand-new G5 or XServe is too much dough, and a windows machine too much of PITA, you could look for an older G4 tower in the dual gigahertz range. Those are very solid performers.
