Hello FM Community,

My name is will and I've recently switched to FM Pro 8, I work in marketing and need to manage thousands of contacts and emails. I made a contact databse and then found the free Email Campaign database on the Filemaker Pro website. I've attempted to combine my work with theirs and have accomplished everything except one last detail:

In the section of the database called "Mail Room", in the "Groups" tab, what I need to be able to do when adding members to new group is pull data from "A Search" in the "Contacts" table. I want to be able to Perfrom a search for specific contacts and when I go the add contacts to a group it displays only the contacts that I've searched for and not every contact in my database.

If anyone can help me with this I would be forever in your debt. The login name for the file is "admin" and the password is blank. Please feel free to use and redistribute to anyone who may need this. If you need to ask questions you can IM me at BKDark75 or email to [email protected]

Cheers,

Will

Hi online friends,

Is there anyone who can help me with this, or am I in the wrong place. I assume everyone is as busy as I am so I appreciate your time in reviewing my question above. If I need t be more specific or offer a better question I will, any help what so ever is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Will

I cannot view your file cos I do not have 8 but rather than do a search in contacts why not relate contacts to groups then use a portal based on this relationship.

This would do the equivelant of your 'search' and would only show contacts related to the current group. If you enable 'creation of new records' via this relationship you will be able to add the new contact through the portal also
