BrentHedden Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I've been toying with this new layout tab control thing with FM8, and I do like what I see. However, I'm trying to make it do something that appears can't be done without some trickery (story of my life) - Is there a way to have a script run (or at least change one field's info) when switching tabs? Or, in other words - how to add a button definition to a particular tab? I thought I would be slick and put an invisible button over the tab(s), but my plans were foiled. I looked at 24U's excellent tab tricks that they have on their site, but it doesn't answer this type of question.
stuj1026 Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Matt Petrowsky has a great article @ http://www.filemakermagazine.com Take a look it might help with what you are trying to do Stu
NeoNexus Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 I know this reply is somewhat belated - however I've just been trying to find a way to do the same thing. The good news is that there IS a way!! See: http://www.softs4humans.com/index_en.html From the Intro on the demo file "Under FileMaker version 8v1, the new tab controls cannot be scripted and they cannot be disabled either. Nearly letting these tab controls unusable because users can go everywhere they want... So here's a small demo for placing YOUR buttons and scripts to drive the built-in tab controls. No plug-in is required for this simple and powerful technique." Creator Gaston Forgues (2005/10/21) Also, the plugin from Gaston for event based scripting looks way cool...
