Access 97-FileMaker Pro Mac OS X

Featured Replies

How do I import data from an Access '97 database using ODBC to FileMaker 6,7 or 8 Advanced? I can do this easily using Windows XP and FileMaker 6--but I haven't figured out how to do it--or if it's possible to do it using OS X.

Thanks in advance!

First, do you have an ODBC Driver installed on your mac? Once you install the driver it shouldn't be much different.

If this is a one-off thing, just export the data from Access and import into FM.

Unfortunately this is a regular process involving moving data from the Access Data file to a FM Database. And I am usually performing this from a remote mac without access to MS Access for the export.

I am pretty sure I have an ODBC driver installed.. the one from DataDirect?? But, I don't see a MS Access to FileMaker ODBC driver..?? Am I missing something?

Thanks!

I can't say for FMP6, but I have just been working with FMP7/8 - There is no OBDC link from FileMaker OSX to ODBC sources. You must have FileMaker on a Windows Box. Also, the abiliteis to call a VB script differ between using FMP7/8 and Advance Server.
