Better integration with Quark and Indesign

Featured Replies

Better integration with Quark and Indesign for beginners/intermediate users. Better documentation playing special attention to both publishing systems.

May be a configurable wizard to publish variable contents in catalogs or templates with variable data (texts and graphics).

I think commercial solutions are extremely expensive and for filemaker is just one step beyond. Many publishers use FM to store data but they aren't XML, XSLT, DTD programers.

I use an applescript program to indesign. Works great. Quark is coming up to speed on xml.

Hey, the template/wizard thing is a GREAT plug-in option for a developer.B)

After having spent many hours working around Quark's Applescript and/or XML bugs (which will reappear in a different fashion after each minor XPress update, requiring programming around those bugs), I believe, a FileMaker Solution to link to Quark cannot be cheap.

BTW, given the cost of XPress and Indesign, why should it be?

If you want an easy, affordable (database) publishing solution, go for Ragtime. It's perfectly suited for Catalogs and technical publications. It plugs into FileMaker easily using ODBC and/or AppleScript.

They even have a (slightly limited) freeware version for personal use.
