Ronald Cree Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 What is the best way to use URLs in a database that is web-published? It doesn't seem that you can right-click the link and choose "Open URL" like you can when the database is local. I'd like to be able to include URLs in some of my text field entries (ie, "Click Here to view the site"). Can this be done? Is there an effective work-around or add-in that makes it easier? Thanks.
CyborgSam Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 The script step "Open URL" is web compatible.
Ronald Cree Posted October 20, 2005 Author Posted October 20, 2005 Wouldn't that work only for a set URL? What's the best way to do it if the field contains a different URL per record?
mr_vodka Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 In your open URL script step in FM6, there is the option to Select Field Value. Specify the field that stores the URL for each record.
Ronald Cree Posted October 20, 2005 Author Posted October 20, 2005 Does it behave any differently in FM7 or 8?
mr_vodka Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 No just that in 7 and 8 there is no radio button to choose between text verses field value. In FM7 /8 there is only one entry field for both text and field value. You can specify by using the quotation marks. I merely stated earlier in FM6... because I was trying to walk you through the steps.
