i have been given a symbol spt 1550 and fmp mobile 2.x for inventory control, using the barcode feature. i pretty familiar w/ fmp, pdas and have used the first fmp mobile. however, i cannot figure out what is needed to set up fmp mobile to read the barcode into the application. both manuals really dont say anything. spt manual is really a pilot manual and the mobile manual is very generic. any response(s) would be helpful. thanks

I have done something similar using the SPT 1700, but didn't use FM Mobile as it didn't exist then. I used J-File to handle the data on the SPT, and a conduit to return the results back to FMP.

AFAIK J-File (for Mac) bit the dust a while ago.

Recently I've been reconsidering PDA to FMP linkage and have been looking at WiFi PDAs. I'm not sure how to integrate the barcode reader to web browser on the PDA either, but I can tell you that the bundled Blazer browser will no longer work due to some buyout recently at Palm.

What happens when you scan a barcode into an open field in FM Mobile ?

Is the scanner actually working ? I'm sure there's a simple test app loaded on the SPT
