finding with first letter only

I need to do a find based on the first letter only. The database is a book list with author, title, publisher, description, price. I want to be able to find authors beginning with A and export that set, then authors beginning with B, etc.

When I do a find in the Author field using either A or A*, I get all authors with an A anywhere in the name. I want to find only those whose name begins with A.

Thanks!

Hi

give a try to this find criteria: ==a*

When I do a find in the Author field using either A or A*, I get all authors with an A anywhere in the name.

No, you get authors that have a WORD that BEGINS with an A in the name. "A" wil find Albert and Sue-Ann, but NOT Mary.
