Rejiggering Web Publishing Engine

Featured Replies

I've successfully run FMS 7 Advanced on Win2003 server and connected to it from both Windows and Mac web servers. I initially left the Web Publishing Engine on the same server as the FM server, but now I want to move it to the web server platforms. I re-installed the WPE elements from the FMS 7 Advanced CD on my Mac OS X 10.3.9 Server, and managed to munge up Tomcat-Jakarta. I need someone to point me to an description of the files that Filemaker Server 7 Advanced installer puts on a Mac so I can go in and check to see if they are running. Thanks.

You should see two daemons for FileMaker Web Publishing on the machine with the WPE. Use the terminal to start the Web service.

FWIW, I don't know of a single case where anyone has been able to make the configuration you describe work on OS X, although it's suppsoed to do so.

I see two processes in Activity Monitor that are owned by user fmweb (I don't recall creating that user...):) java and FM Web Publishin (no g) with 24 and 44 threads, respectively. I assume that means WPE is running on my MacOS X/Apache box.

Which process do you recommend I start by Terminal?

Nevermind, I see it on page 52 of the Installation Guide:

sudo SystemStarter start "Filemaker Web Publishing"

Who would have thought?
