Divegeek Posted November 23, 2005 Posted November 23, 2005 Hi Folks, I'm looking to create a contact database in filemaker 7, however the template I downloaded isn't cutting it for me, so I thought I would post my question here. I'd like to create a contact database, but would like it to be connected to the Oracle Tables I have at work. Here is the kicker I would like to be able to track how often each person is contacted. I guess I'm envisioning a nifty mail-orderesque service screen where one call and all of a sudden I know everything about that caller. oh and ps, I have no budget, so its all on me! Thanks.
T-Square Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Are these tables available to you remotely, or will you be importing the records? That's a big distinction. To use the Oracle tables directly, check out Filemaker's ODBC help pages. Basically, you'll be creating an Oracle ODBC driver which will allow you to see the Oracle data. Or you can import the records using the Import Records feature; again you'll need to set up the ODBC connection. As for the ongoing contact stuff, the same thing goes: are you storing this in Oracle, or Filemaker? David
