Steverino
This is an easy and obvious question, or should be. I'm running FM8 Server, and need to establish remote access (internally, everything's fine). I have the IP address and port 5003 is enabled...but what else do I have to do on the server or with the file to enable access (network sharing is turned on)? (Right now, when I type in the IP and try to connect, I don't get a list of available files.)
Wim Decorte
You need the public (web) IP of your router, not the IP of your FMS8 machine. And port 5003 needs to be open on the router, with the router configured to forward all traffic on 5003 to the internal IP address of your FMS8 machine. Steverino
I believe that all of that is done. (I'll be able to double-check tomorrow.)
Wim Decorte
You're trying to connect with regular FMP, right? If you're trying to connect with the Server Admin tool remotely then it will never work. It's not designed to work through NAT.
Steverino
My bad -- the IT guy had the port going to the wrong internal address. It's working great now.
Steven H. Blackwell
OK good. Glad it works now. Steven
