TaiChi56 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I used the backup script under the FileMaker Developer 7 help files. It backs up the data after every 5th closing. I noticed that it puts a fp7 extension on it though. If I make runtime files for this program how will the user be able to use the backup? They would have to have FileMaker 7 Pro on their computer thus defeating the whole purpose of Runtime files. Could I just change it to a .usr extension? Or will this cause problems?
Wim Decorte Posted December 13, 2005 Posted December 13, 2005 Do you have a restore process built into your files? If you do, just point the import scripts to the FP7 files and all that data will go back into your runtime... If you don't have a restore process, then how are they going to use the data regardless of the extension?
TaiChi56 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 Thank you for your help. That made sense. I now have a restore process. Excellent.
