Scanning Documents

Featured Replies

I'm just starting to learn FMP and have a Question. If you care to answer it please don't go into detail because I can assure you I won't understand your detailed reply.

Is it possible to scan a document directly (or as directly as possible) to a container field?

I'm working to convert my office to "paperless"...or as close as I can get.

Thanks,

Mel

Welcome to the forums!

You could theoretically have a script scan to a file and then tell FileMaker to import the file into a field.

For a paperless office, you may want to consider OCR software. Many documents are more usable if they're in text instead of an image.

Thanks for the reply Cyborg,

I'm quite familiar with OCR and it's got a LOOOOOOONG way to go before you could let it go on it's own. I rarely OCR a document that doesn't need allot of editing.

Thanx,

Mel
