I am creating a database of companies we deal with and there contacts. I am working with 3 files. Organisation (Org_id, name, type, etc, Address_ID) Address(Address_ID, Street, town, county, etc) Contact (Con_ID, Name, Org_ID,Address_ID)

I am trying to create another file (layouts (Org_id, Address_id, Con_id))to hold all my layouts in. I am working on linking this file via the fields with the same name in the other three files. My problem is will this work and how do I go about creating records in the other files without creating a record in the layout file.

Thanks for any help I need it mad.gif" border="0mad.gif" border="0

Unless you are an experienced Filemaker developer do NOT even attempt this. It has HUGE potential rewards in the long run, but is very complex to initially setup and will be unlikely to provide a reasonable ROI.

Keep your layouts in the individual files.
