Would like to know how to have fields with "labels" such as name, address, etc. already residing inside each field. (Instead of labels along side each field, taking up space) Would like them to be colored light gray, but the actual text inserted by the user would be black, Can this be done?

Thanks.....

LaRetta posted this neat little solution a while back. It's pretty cool and probably just what you're looking for.

It's simple to make those label inside the fields ... but when in "Find Mode, how can you know where to place the request ?

I use dedicated Find layouts so it's never come up for me. Finding on a standard layout opens trouble. But on those layouts, simply put text above the field or populate an underlying global repetition when you Enter Find Mode.

The concept of label names within the fields works wonderfully (and many Developers do it) because it saves space particularly in portals where clutter is an issue and space is tight. Users (if they constantly use a layout), would KNOW what a group of fields represent because they stare at the layout all day. But nothing says one MUST put the label inside on those particular layouts.

As with all things in this business, it's an individual call and one shoe does NOT fit all feet. :wink2:
