Rushhour Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Hi everyone I am having a serious problem and my boss wanted this. Is it possible to write a script performing in a file that check itself like every 15 minutes for any new record found? Lets say e.g. staff 'a' access the form from iwp or client from elsewhere, he/she submits it. And this script actually checks itself lets say every 15 minutes and when new record is found, it auto generate an email and inform the particular personnel. Can this be done?? i am really stuck in this and do not know what to do. Help are greatly appreciated Thanks a lot in advance Kelvin
Ted S Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Rush, It can be done but not as cleanly as you would like I imagine. This is kinda kludgy but it works. If you can afford to dedicate a PC to doing this task (any any other automation tasks) you could create a Scheduled Task (native Windows tool) that would open a local FM file that would in turn kick off the script on the hosted file. After it was finished it would close itself and be ready for the next go around. If this sounds like something you would like to do I can provide more details.
Rushhour Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 Hi Ted My company have Filemaker 7 Server, developer and client. And we are working in a IWP environment. The forms i did used 'openurl' to startup the email client and user need to manual click send. But its not possible to roll out such forms as its not user friendly. Actually im only a tertiary student on industry attachment. It is my 1st time coming across filemaker and i have been playing with it for a month plus. My boss expects me to come up the solution that he stated, anyhelp are greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot Kelvin
