Featured Replies

Hi

I have a file that has 6463 records with 138 field. I copied it as an empty (clone)file. I opened this blank file and wanted to import this 6463 record .I choose "matching names" and click "import". after a long time consuming import process it says "6421 records skipped due to errors" (The number of skipped records changes everytime) and file turn with very few record ... please tellme what I did wrong or filemaker did something wrong I miss FM 6 import capability

Best regards

Sounds like you may have some corruption. Try Save a Copy As (Compressed), or try exporting the records to a text file, then import them into the clone.

Just a point of clarification: You said this is for FM6, but your picture shows an FM8 file. If you're importing from an FM6 file, it must first be converted to FM7/8 before the data can be imported.

No. No.

FM8 file to FM8 file.

"I miss FM6 import capability " Because FM6 faster.

It could also be that your file has some type of validation. Open up the field definitions and check to see if there are any fields which have "Validate data in this field ALWAYS" and change them to "Validate data in this field ONLY DURING DATA ENTRY" and this will skip the validation during the import.
