Description: Hi

Has anyone made a drop down menu autopopulate from the contents of a folder? Is this possible with filemaker? And if it is can someone point me in the right direction?

You may have to be more specific by what you mean by folder. The value lists (drop down menus) can be defined as from field values in a table or a relationship.

I have a database and the only way to get to some of the files is through external urls. So I wrote a script that gets all the urls and puts them into a text file.

Then filemaker imports the file into a separate database.

The problem I am having is that I have to restart both databases if I want to refresh the list of urls and reimport them. Isn't there a way to get a list of all the urls of files on a website to autopopulate a dropdown without having to import files or restart the database? Also, something I haven't tested yet thoroughly, but is there a way to get the dropdown menu to keep the setting you originally set it with even if the url changes from field 1 to field 3 or something.

In Max MSP, the drop down menu will populate from files in whatever path you set.

like /Users/person/audio/blabla.aif

Is there something similar in filemaker?
