Find doesn't find matching records, what is wrong?

Featured Replies

I have a text field whose content contains a project number in the form xxx.xxxx, xxx.xxx, xxx.xxx.xx or xxx.xxxx.xx. So for instance, 001.1200.45.

I need to find all the records that match the pattern: 001.1xxx.99 where the x's can be any number.

I think the current find request should match:

001.1@@@.99. Instead, that returns some records, but they do not all have the .99 on the end of them (ie: 001.1234 matches). Adding quotes or equals before and after the text results in no matching records.

If I do 001.1*.99, it finds some records, but in addition to the 001.1xxx.99 records, it returns some records that match 001.1xx.99.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I've tried wrapping it in quotes, using equals signs, and have had no luck. What am I doing wrong?!

Thanks in advance!

try 001.1***.99 instead

001.1***.99 finds identically (and incorrectly) the same records as using @@@.

For the record, the @@@ query works fine under 7 (&8). So this would be something specifically wrong in 6.

Weird.

I tested it and it found only your example. Possibly the example needed to be expended, but you didn't give us much to go on. Also, in my limited test, the @@@ did fail, but the *** didn't.

The "Find" options have [color:red]not changed from v6 to v7, only the ability to escape them as text characters.

BTW, what does version 6 have to do with this, there is no mention of it in your post or profile?

Why not try a range?

001.1000.99 to 001.1999.99
